ABOUT VOLGOGRAD

Volgograd is one of the most famous cities in Russia founded in 1589. It is known to the world mostly by its previous name – Stalingrad. It spreads out along the Volga, the largest river in Europe.

Volgograd is a city of contrasts where the past meets the present. It is the region known for its history, cultural diversity as well as for its endless generosity and hospitality.

A great number of architectural monuments, museums and memorials of the region are related to the events of the Great Patriotic War and they are especially valuable.

The historical memorial complex “To Heroes of the Stalingrad Battle” on the Mamayev Hill and the monument “The Motherland calls” as its focal point are considered to be the main symbols of a hero-city Volgograd and were included into the Seven Wonders of Russia in 2008.

The hero-city of Volgograd is a tourist attraction due to its unique historic monuments, nature and architectural places of interest as well as a large educational center which allows the students to realize their creative potential.

STUDENT'S EXPERIENCE

“The best way to learn languages is to be absorbed by the culture of the nation. Volgograd gave me this opportunity. The professors taught us patiently and enthusiastically. Russians have such a tricky grammar!”

“Volgograd is such an impressive city with powerful historical heritage. Professors acquainted us not only with the language but also with the culture of the city and country in general. I think my trip has brought me knowledge as well as experience in communication with the completely different cultures”.

“It was my first experience of studying so far from my home but it was great! 3 weeks of Russian with natives and wide cultural program make this experience unforgettable. Russians are really hospitable and open to the world! And the summer was so hot that I didn’t expect it to be so. But locals explained it’s okay for Volgograd”

“The Summer School in Volgograd gave me a memorable experience! Great teachers inspired me to advance my knowledge of Russian. I felt as a part of international activity. There were people from all corners of the world like China, France and others with whom I hope to keep in touch”
